Grading

In order to achieve the best possible price two things are important – who you sell to and how well graded the material is. CONGRATULATIONS! You have already achieved the first goal by being on this site and if you read below you will find out about the second. Although we are happy to purchase any mixture of material, the better your material is graded the more we pay.

Grading can be time consuming, but if you can sort your material accurately then you will receive the greatest financial returns.

We not only collect your non-ferrous scrap, we also collect your steel radiators, tanks and boilers. If you need a collection from site we are always happy to be of service.

Stainless Steel Lead

Stainless steel must be under 5ft in length.

Ensure that a magnet does not stick to your stainless, if it does then you have a material called Chrome Iron which has no Nickel (the valuable bit) in it.

Must be free from brass, rubber, plastic, tar and insulation. Engineers: 316 Stainless steel commands a premium and should be kept separate if at all possible.

Copper Based

Separate your copper pipe and cylinders into the following grades:

  • Clean copper tube free from paint
  • Painted Cu Tube
  • Yorkshire fittings free from brass
  • Brass fittings free from plastic / rubber
  • Brass taps (mixer taps need to have plastic valves removed)
  • Cu cylinders free from insulation, scale and element removed
